The Legend of the MasterCard Logo

I love to look back and see how some corporate logos have changed over the years and I especially love it when other people make a chart of it for me! So thanks adgoodness! I haven't seen the "worldwide" logo in use yet...but I'm not on board the I-love-that-logo train...for me, 1990 worked the best, it was simple and clean.

My Word of the Day Calendar isn't Paying Off

I think my Onion Horoscope of the week is too smart for me.

Leo July 23 - August 22
Your interest in temporal paradoxes ends almost before it begins this week, which considering the subject matter, is strangely fitting.

I had to look up "temporal paradoxes" in order to understand why it was funny, sigh, oh well I can't know everything...yet.

From what I understand, temporal paradoxes are time traveling events that through one's actions in time travel make the possibility of that event impossible. For example, if you go back in time and kill your grandfather, your father will not have been born and therefore you will not have been born, this makes a temporal paradox. Crazy, hey?

Sunshine isn't just for making us pale people feel paler.

I have always had a love of solar power and my dream home would definitely have solar panels. This sounds a little bit crazy but a lot of awesome. Paint on...solar power? Oh yea, it's possible.
"Installing solar panels on the roof of every new building in the world would go a long way towards solving our energy needs, but as we all know, solar panels are costly and often difficult to install. But what if the solar panel was an integral part of every building? What if solar cells could be painted on building products? Well, according to a team from Swansea University this type of technology will soon be coming to a hardware store near you."

It's the hat.

German hat seller Hut Weber has done a very nice, simple and clever ad.

Amazingly, they did it so well no one was offended by the Hitler reference, or the Charlie Chaplin reference, and these days, someone always gets offended.

I third the love.

I'm going to have to agree with the love that the ampersand is getting around the internet. It definitely is a fabulous character. The Ministry of Type writes up a nice little article on the little guy, here.

Life in the Cave

I received some very lovely daffodils that were completely closed yesterday, and today they are in full bloom! Definitely brightens up the "cave" that I work (quite happily) in.

I made sure to get my plane lamp, that I love, into the picture!

And btw, today is the birthday of one of my best friends, interior designer, neighbor, and fellow blogger, Amy (Mase, Jamy, or whatever you want to call her). Wander over and check out her blog.

ASVAP: The American Society for Velociraptor Attack Prevention

I wish there was more to this site, but it's still enjoyable.

"New Home Buyer Tips

When buying a new home, there are a few things to look out for when assessing potential velociraptor attacks:

  1. Check all doors and windows. Doors should be made of solid oak or steel. Windows should have steel bars with spacing smaller than the average raptor.
  2. Make sure all entryways have adequate deadbolts. Quality deadbolts may be purchased at your local Home Depot.
  3. Always keep a loaded big-game rifle under your bed, and tire irons near every door. Remember, you should never be farther than 20 feet away from a tire iron."

The Glass is Half....

Ha...I think of myself as more of an optimist, I tend to say "What's the worst that can happen ?", but this mug makes me quite happy!

(Find it at Despair, Inc. for $9.95, the site is totes worth checking out)

iNSPiRAL

Check out the new iNSPiRAL Blog! I'll be sharing my blogging time posting on both blogs, but I promise I won't let this blog suffer...much. iNSPiRAL is an Erie based band that rocks my socks off and I'm totally in love with the one guitar player*.

(*Ummm...for those of you who don't know, he's my bf.)

White Chandelier

Every time I see a white chandelier I want one even more. This is actually showcasing the work of Leigh Wells, which is stunning, but I love that chandelier!

Here's another (this is in Geyneth Paltrow's and Chris Martin's home).

Galleries

Saturday we went to the Carnegie Art Museum and saw the lovely (7th grade) Ari's work on display. She created a piece to promote Climb for Hope.

And then went to see how the show at Fe Gallery (that Randie and I helped set up for) turned out. These clay pieces (that weighed a lot more than they look) Were hung from flimsy 14 ft twigs (that were a pain to put together). But amazingly none of them broke!
